Tau regularly receives requests where someone is looking for an audio solution, but the location or conditions are of such a nature that not every solution is suitable. To give an idea of a number of unique projects that we have worked on together with our customers, we are present a couple of situation examples.
Wiring in monuments
Wiring is difficult to achieve in some environments. For example, if there is very unique architecture that can hardly be adjusted, it is a shame or sometimes even impossible to have to install meters of cables. For example, in monuments people want to have as few cables present as possible. For these environments, Dante loudspeakers, such as the IPD-CM series from SoundTube, are the ideal solution. These loudspeakers are provided with the audio signal, power supply and control functions through a single Ethernet cable. The power supply in these cases is provided by a PoE(+) switch, also available at Tau. For power supply in non-PoE (Power over Ethernet) installations, the loudspeakers can be connected to a 12 or 24 volt DC power connector.
Perfect coverage in large and high spaces
In large rooms with a high ceiling, it can be difficult to achieve the right coverage. Often people work all over the place in such spaces, such as storehouses or warehouses, and it is important that the audio is clearly audible everywhere. Not only because everyone can hear the music well, but especially in case of broadcasts or evacuation in emergency situations, good coverage is of great importance. SoundSphere supplies the perfect loudspeakers for these types of applications. The specific round shape makes it possible to spread even, full range sound over a wider area with fewer speakers. The loudspeakers provide 360 ° hemispheric coverage downward and to the side and ensure a wide coverage of good quality of music and speech.
Optimal speech intelligibility
There are situations where the speech intelligibility must be optimal when announcing messages. For example in environments where messages are continuously broadcast for passengers, such as departure halls in airports or large train stations. Pan Acoustics designed Beam Steering Technology, which provides speakers with controllable sound beams that can be precisely adjusted to the desired audience. As a result, each loudspeaker delivers constant sound pressure and volume and evenly distributed, natural sound reproduction, even in large spaces. The loudspeakers, such as those from the Pan Beam series, ensure excellent speech intelligibility. For the optimum result, Tau can perform STI measurements. Following the tests, the correct sound level can be determined and the perfect settings of the audio equipment decided. This way, we can ensure ultimate intelligibility in the entire space.
Application in extreme environments
Of course, you also want to be able to trust your loudspeakers in extreme conditions and in work locations where hazardous substances are used. For use in special environments, there are various loudspeakers available at Tau that have been certified. These certifications indicate to what extent a loudspeaker is protected against certain external influences. For example, the LH3-UC25XS and the LH3-UC25XL from the Bosch LH series are specifically suitable for (potentially) explosive environments.
Challenges when installing induction loop systems
There are also challenges when it comes to induction loop systems. We regularly come across locations where the induction loop must be installed in an ascending stage, for instance. There are also situations where there is no possibility to build the loop into the floor and one does not want to work with infrared. Because of the magnetic field, however, it is important that the induction loop is installed correctly. Tau Audio Solutions BV is always happy to advise you about the possibilities, such as building the loop inside the ceiling. For the best result, Tau can perform a Pre-commissioning test. As a result of the measurement, it is decided how the loop can be laid, so that the magnetic field offers sufficient coverage. It is also determined which hearing loop drivers are suitable for the project. This way, we can ensure ultimate intelligibility for all hearing aid users present.
